Plataforma<\/strong>\u00a0Carne y Salud <\/strong><\/a>organized an online workshop to analyze the impact on the Spanish livestock sector and health of the ‘From Farm to Fork’ strategy recently presented by the European Commission.<\/p>\n

“We need a common commitment to defend our products, our livestock production model and our Mediterranean diet, with a balanced consumption of all foods for health,” said MEP Clara Aguilera<\/strong> in her speech at the online conference organized by the Platform ” .<\/p>\n

Clara Aguilera indicated that, as a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development<\/strong> and rapporteur for her political group on this issue, she has a high interest in knowing the state of opinion and the information of the sectors, to properly configure opinion of the European Parliament and the direction of the regulations that will be generated from next year to develop the Strategy and the Green Pact.<\/p>\n

The MEP stressed that there is no adequate knowledge at a political or social<\/strong> level about what livestock productions contribute and the potential they offer to society in different areas and the improvements that have been promoted and continue to work on issues of sustainability, health or production model.<\/p>\n

On the workshop, the essential points of the proposal of the European Commission regarding livestock production and meat were put on the table, with interventions by experts in sustainability, health and agri-food law, to address what the sector considers as a threatening future if this EU strategy, which undoubtedly also contains numerous strategic value propositions, goes ahead in the terms in which it has been presented.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Manuel Lainez<\/strong>, Dr. Ingeniero agr\u00f3nomo y consultor en Investigaci\u00f3n e Innovaci\u00f3n Agroalimentaria, record\u00f3 que la ganader\u00eda solo representa un 7,8 % de las emisiones de GEI de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>, seg\u00fan los datos oficiales del Inventario de Emisiones del Ministerio para la Transici\u00f3n Ecol\u00f3gica y el Reto Demogr\u00e1fico, frente a los correspondientes a sectores como el transporte (27 %), industria (19 %) o la generaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica (17 %).<\/p>\n

Antonio Escribano<\/strong>, especialista en Endocrinolog\u00eda y Nutrici\u00f3n y en Medicina del Deporte expuso que la estrategia no debe ser \u2018de la granja a la mesa\u2019, sino \u2018de la granja a la salud\u2019, \u2018de la granja al organismo\u2019, ya que los alimentos de la mesa hay que consumirlos para incorporar sus nutrientes al organismo, y determinados enfoques restrictivos como los que plantea la Comisi\u00f3n Europea pueden desembocar en carencias nutricionales.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Luis Palma<\/strong>, especialista en Derecho Agroalimentario, coment\u00f3 que la comercializaci\u00f3n de productos con base vegetal bajo denominaciones de productos c\u00e1rnicos podr\u00eda calificarse como acto de competencia desleal, a la luz del RD 474\/2014 que establece la norma de calidad de los derivados c\u00e1rnicos. Nada impide que esos productos se comercialicen, pero no apropi\u00e1ndose de una denominaci\u00f3n que no les correspondiente.<\/p>\n
