Catalan political groups have agreed with farmers that they will review water restrictions due to the drought emergency in Catalonia that affect agriculture. The delegation of farmers and ranchers, meeting with the Generalitat on February 8, have also urged reducing bureaucracy and streamlining the payment of aid for the 2022-2023 season.<\/p>\n

The representatives of the first sector initiated the commitment of the Generalitat, according to the press, to review the limitations of 50% of water destined for farms within the measures taken to fight against drought in internal basins.<\/p>\n

This decision has generated a lot of controversy in the sector, to which the ranchers from the six towns of Solson\u00e8s have joined, a region where livestock farming is a mainstay, within this area. The affected municipalities are Solsona, Riner, Olius, Pin\u00f3s, Clariana de Cardener and Nav\u00e9s. Everyone sees it as unfeasible to reduce the water consumed on farms by half.<\/p>\n

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragon\u00e8s y Garcia, accompanied by the Minister of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, David Mascort Subiranas, received the representatives of the main agricultural groups that mobilized in Barcelona: Uni\u00f3 de Pagesos, Agrarian Association of Youth Farmers (Asaja), Association of Young Farmers and Ranchers of Catalonia (Jarc), Platform 6-F and the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives.
