After a year and a half of investigation into imports of pork meat and by-products from the European Union, the Ministry of Commerce of the People\u2019s Republic of China (MOFCOM) has published the final tariffs that will apply to European companies exporting to the country over the next five years, starting on December 17<\/p>\n

Specifically, the final duties are set at 4.98% for the Spanish company Litera Meat, 18.68% for Denmark\u2019s Danish Crown and 19.8% for the Dutch company Vion. In addition, companies classified as cooperating \u2014including most Spanish firms\u2014 will be subject to a 9.8% tariff, representing a 50% reduction compared to the provisional duty applied until now.<\/p>\n

INTERPORC points out that this reduction, particularly significant for Spanish companies, is the result of the \u201cintensive technical and diplomatic cooperation maintained with the Chinese authorities\u201d.<\/p>\n

Both INTERPORC and Spanish exporting companies have actively and transparently cooperated and maintained close contact throughout this period with the Chinese and Spanish administrations, within a complex international context marked by the need to ensure trade relations based on dialogue, technical rigor and respect for international standards.<\/p>\n

According to the Interprofessional organisation, these reductions demonstrate China\u2019s confidence in the quality, food safety and professionalism of European pork, as well as in the responsiveness and transparency of companies and the Spanish Interprofessional body, whose contribution has been key throughout the entire process.<\/p>\n

Competitive value of the European sector<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a global context in which China is the main destination for European Union pork, with more than 1.1 million tonnes imported in 2024, these figures confirm the competitive value of the European sector and its strong reputation among Chinese buyers.<\/p>\n

INTERPORC stresses that this outcome should also be interpreted from a strategic perspective: the European pork sector has not only effectively defended its commercial interests, but has also strengthened its relationship with a key global partner, demonstrating that commitment to good commercial practices and transparency delivers tangible benefits for European exports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
