The aim is to simplify compliance for businesses and Member States, while strengthening the sustainability of the sector and the proper functioning of the single market.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"293\" data-end=\"670\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24633 \" src=\"https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/reciclaje-envases.jpg\" alt=\"reciclaje envases\" width=\"636\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/reciclaje-envases.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/reciclaje-envases-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/reciclaje-envases-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This Regulation, in force since 11 February 2025, represents a key step towards a more efficient and competitive model for packaging management.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, each European citizen generated an average of 178 kg of packaging waste. Without action:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total waste could increase by 19% by 2030<\/li>\n<li>Plastic waste could increase by up to 46%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, differences between national regulations have created significant administrative burdens for companies in the sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What the new guidelines clarify<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The document published by the Commission offers greater clarity on key aspects of the Regulation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Definition of manufacturer and producer<\/li>\n<li>Identification of which products are considered packaging<\/li>\n<li>Restrictions on single-use packaging<\/li>\n<li>Application of the PFAS restriction in food contact materials<\/li>\n<li>Reuse targets<\/li>\n<li>Application of extended producer responsibility (EPR)<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of deposit return schemes (DRS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Frequently asked questions are also included to address practical queries raised by economic operators since the Regulation&#8217;s adoption.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next steps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Commission will continue working on the development of the Regulation by:<\/p>\n<p>Translating the document into all official EU languages<br \/>\nDrafting delegated and implementing acts on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reporting and notification formats (EPR)<\/li>\n<li>Labeling for proper waste separation<\/li>\n<li>Recycled content in plastic packaging<\/li>\n<li>Recyclability criteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of this will be done in collaboration with Member States and relevant sectors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Framework for Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Regulation aims to address the environmental challenges associated with packaging by promoting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mandatory recyclability by 2030<\/li>\n<li>A minimum recycled content<\/li>\n<li>Reducing the excessive use of packaging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These measures will contribute to reducing emissions, resource consumption, and environmental costs,
