ANAFRIC requested greater clarity in the union demands in order to comprehensively assess the proposals, find common ground, and explore the possibilities of reaching an agreement. The next meeting is scheduled for September 10th.

ANAFRIC believes that the time has come to delve into the substance of the issues that should shape the new agreement, preventing the negotiations from being limited to discussions about salary increases, reduced working hours, or new labor costs, which are far removed from the realities of the sector.

For the association, labor relations are not immune to the difficulties currently facing meat companies, and therefore, the collective bargaining agreement must also become an instrument for offering solutions to the future challenges facing the sector.

The president of Anafric, José Friguls, states that “we want an agreement that allows us to improve working conditions, but that at the same time helps companies address the real problems of organization, absenteeism, productivity, prevention, and adaptation of production. A sustainable agreement must move in both directions.”

Absenteeism and Sick Leave

ANAFRIC argues that issues such as absenteeism and the management of sick leave should be an active part of the negotiation. The unexpected absence of workers has direct consequences on the organization of shifts, the workload of the rest of the staff, and the ability of companies to maintain their production levels.

Precisely for this reason, the platform presented by ANAFRIC included the obligation for employees to inform their employers that they are on temporary disability leave, regardless of whether medical certificates are submitted electronically. It also proposes strengthening regulations against unjustified absences, timekeeping fraud, and simulated attendance.

An agreement adapted to the realities of production

ANAFRIC also considers it necessary for the negotiations to address the flexibility and adaptability of companies, especially in a sector conditioned by seasonality, fluctuations in demand, the perishable nature of the product, and potential health or production disruptions.

The association maintains, among other things, its proposals to adapt performance systems when exceptional circumstances affect production or marketing, review the structure of professional categories, and improve certain business organization mechanisms.

In occupational health and safety, ANAFRIC continues to advocate for mandatory medical examinations in high-risk positions where legally justifiable, as well as preventive alcohol and drug testing measures linked to risk assessments, always adhering to the principles of necessity, proportionality, privacy, and confidentiality.

The association believes that competitiveness, productivity, and job security must be integral to the final balance of the collective bargaining agreement, along with any agreed-upon improvements to working conditions.

For ANAFRIC, “negotiating means reconciling rights with business sustainability. If the agreement incorporates new obligations or costs, it must also provide companies with tools to better organize work, reduce inefficiencies, and improve productivity.”

ANAFRIC will continue to actively participate in the Negotiating Committee with a commitment to reaching an agreement and advocating for a modern, legally sound collective bargaining agreement adapted to the real needs of a sector largely comprised of small and medium-sized enterprises.

ANAFRIC, the national meat industry association, believes it is necessary to intensify negotiations for the new National Collective Bargaining Agreement […]

[1097,1096
1100,2542
post-25906","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-anafric-en","category-sector-en","tag-anafric-en","tag-convenio-colectivo-en
["GET
