{"id":25998,"date":"2026-09-17T08:06:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T06:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anafric.es\/planas-highlights-innovation-and-technology-as-key-to-the-future-of-the-agri-food-sector\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T08:06:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T06:06:14","slug":"planas-highlights-innovation-and-technology-as-key-to-the-future-of-the-agri-food-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anafric.es\/en\/planas-highlights-innovation-and-technology-as-key-to-the-future-of-the-agri-food-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Planas highlights innovation and technology as key to the future of the agri-food sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, <strong>Luis Planas<\/strong>, has highlighted the importance of research, development and innovation in addressing the main challenges facing the agri-food sector, particularly in the face of climate change, water scarcity and extreme weather events.<\/p>\n<p>During his participation in the <strong>33rd Meeting of the Alexander von Humboldt Association of Spain<\/strong>, held in C\u00f3rdoba, Planas pointed out that research and new technologies must respond to the real needs of farmers, livestock farmers and agri-food companies and, at the same time, contribute to maintaining the profitability of farms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25993 \" src=\"https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Bioeconomia.jpg\" alt=\"Planas destaca la innovaci\u00f3n y la tecnolog\u00eda\" width=\"826\" height=\"552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Bioeconomia.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Bioeconomia-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/anafric.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Bioeconomia-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 826px) 100vw, 826px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Among the tools for transferring research to the sector\u2019s day-to-day activity, the minister highlighted the <strong>Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS)<\/strong> and the Operational Groups and projects of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI).<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">In the last two calls under the <strong>Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan (PEPAC)<\/strong>, the Ministry has allocated <strong>\u20ac83.75 million to nearly 150 innovative projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">These initiatives address specific issues such as optimising water use, reducing plant protection products, developing biofertilisers and the <strong>application of precision technologies in livestock farming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Planas also highlighted the role of scientific innovation in improving the sector\u2019s adaptation to new climate conditions, as well as the importance of the Spanish agricultural insurance system.
