Part of the European strategy to diversify markets and strengthen international trade relations, this treaty aims to facilitate economic exchange between the two regions and create new opportunities for their respective productive sectors, including the agri-food industry. However, the ratification process must still navigate various institutional procedures, as well as political reservations that have emerged in Australia\u2014particularly concerning the access of its agricultural and livestock products to the European market.<\/p>\n<p>Negotiations concluded in May of this year, and the text has since undergone scrutiny by legal-linguistic experts. We are closely monitoring the post-negotiation phases; the next step is for the Council of the EU to authorize the signing of the agreement. However, this signing could be delayed due to opposition within the Australian Senate, where the Labor government lacks a majority.<\/p>\n<p>The conservative opposition and the Greens are demanding a renegotiation of the agreement to expand market access for Australian farmers, while also rejecting certain climate and environmental conditions.
