ANAFRIC<\/a>\u00a0enters the final quarter of the year with a European agenda focused on strengthening the competitiveness of the meat sector, reducing administrative burdens, and advocating for a robust budget for agri-food promotion.<\/p>\n“We need clear and proportionate regulations\u2014tailored to the realities faced by businesses\u2014along with a promotional policy that helps maintain existing markets and open new ones,” says Jos\u00e9 Friguls, president of ANAFRIC.<\/p>\n
Regulatory simplification and meat-related product designations<\/strong><\/p>\nThe association will track the “Omnibus” package\u2014aimed at simplifying food and feed legislation\u2014as well as amendments to the Common Market Organization (CMO), with a particular focus on defending meat-related product designations and marketing standards.<\/p>\n
More resources for agri-food promotion<\/strong><\/p>\nANAFRIC is calling for the continued funding of “SIMPLE” and “MULTI” promotion programs through 2027, in light of cuts proposed by the European Commission. The association views these instruments as essential for boosting the presence of European products in international markets.<\/p>\n
Monitoring trade agreements<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Spanish meat industry association will continue to analyze agreements with Mercosur and Australia, as well as ongoing negotiations with the United Kingdom. Regarding Mercosur, it will follow developments concerning the legal challenge filed by Poland and will report any issues identified in the management of tariff-rate quotas to the relevant European institutions.<\/p>\n
Environmental regulations and animal welfare<\/strong><\/p>\nThe implementation of the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), proposals concerning animal welfare during transport, and public procurement requirements are also among the association’s priorities. ANAFRIC will work to ensure that any new obligations are clear, proportionate, and feasible for businesses to implement. “Our goal is to anticipate regulatory changes, convey the sector’s needs, and propose solutions that allow for meeting European objectives without imposing unnecessary burdens,” explains Rosa Solanes, a representative for ANAFRIC.<\/p>\n
