Food inflation stood at 2.5% year on year in October<\/strong>, according to CaixaBank Research\u2019s analysis of the preliminary CPI data. This represents a moderation from September\u2019s 2.7% and brings an end to the increases recorded over the previous two months.<\/p>\n

The slowdown in food price increases nevertheless coexists with differences between categories. Fresh food prices rose by 5.5% compared with October 2025<\/strong>, while processed food recorded an increase of 1.2%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Prices continue to rise, although at a slower pace<\/strong><\/p>\n

The moderation in food inflation means that prices are growing more slowly in year-on-year terms, but it does not imply a widespread fall in the cost of the shopping basket.<\/p>\n

The data also reflect developments in food prices as a whole and do not allow these percentages to be applied to the specific behaviour of meat prices or any of its categories.<\/p>\n

Headline CPI inflation remains at 4.9%<\/strong><\/p>\n

The flash estimate from Spain\u2019s National Statistics Institute places headline inflation in October at 4.9% year on year<\/strong>, the same rate as in September.<\/p>\n

The decline in fuel and lubricant prices for vehicles, together with more moderate developments in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices, helped contain the index.<\/p>\n

Conversely, gas, liquid fuels and package holidays exerted upward pressure, with package holiday prices falling less than in October of the previous year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
