At the end of February, the Government of Extremadura paid a total of 35,394,941.46 euros corresponding to the aid associated with extensive beef farmers. According to Europapress, 6,186 ranchers in the region benefit from this aid.
With these payments, the Extremadura Government, as indicated in its press release, “fulfills its commitment to support Extremaduran producers since it reaches almost all of the livestock farmers in the autonomous community.” The Board expresses that they are working on the “modification of the CAP, on turning around animal health and being prepared” for the vicissitudes that livestock farms may go through. “There is a clear loss of funds and the green requirements upset our professionals in the primary sector, the CAP does not adapt to our way of doing things and that must change because it is a fundamental pillar of agricultural income,” defended the Minister of Agriculture of the Board, Mercedes Morán.
