AECOC shares with the Government of Pedro Sánchez the decision to extend the VAT reduction on some basic foods until June 2024, as a measure to control inflation. But the association is critical regarding the refusal to include meat and fish in this reduction.
For the association, the opportunity to contribute to boosting the consumption of foods with worrying declines in the current context of inflation is being lost.
On the other hand, from AECOC, and as stated in its consumption plan, 34% of consumers buy less meat due to the effect of inflation and 28% consume less fish.
For AECOC, as reported in the press, if this loss of quality in the diet continues over time, it could lead to public health problems.
