ANAFRIC attends meeting with the Generalitat (Catalan Government) to address meat sector concerns over new US tariffs

This Wednesday, ANAFRIC participated in an institutional meeting convened by the Generalitat (Catalan Government), where President Salvador Illa and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, Òscar Ordeig, listened to the concerns of the Catalan agri-food sector regarding the possible imposition of new trade tariffs by the US administration.

During the meeting, the sector expressed its concern about the serious consequences that these tariffs—whether 10% or 20%—could have on international operations, especially for companies with a presence or clients in the US. The measure is generating great uncertainty, hampering business decision-making, and affecting short- and medium-term planning.

In the words of José Friguls, president of ANAFRIC:

“Uncertainty is what is causing us the most headaches right now. We understand that the Generalitat (Catalan Government) is making efforts to find a solution, and we at ANAFRIC would like to thank Minister Ordeig for his constant support for businesses.”

The Catalan government has expressed its commitment to implementing financial aid, technical advice, and support measures for affected companies, as well as actively working to provide a swift and effective response that minimizes the impact of this situation.

At ANAFRIC, we highly value the convening of this meeting and thank the Generalitat (Catalan Government) for its listening and willingness to work together with the sector, with the goal of protecting the competitiveness and internationalization of our companies.
