ANAFRIC, in collaboration with INTEROVIC, the interprofessional lamb and goat association, is joining the campaign “Celebrate everyday life with sustainable and European lamb,” its new European campaign, which includes various related initiatives.
In Catalonia, ANAFRIC has participated in the dissemination of the “Looking for Paquito” initiative, an invitation to reconnect consumers with the region, promoting lamb as a versatile, innovative food deeply rooted in Catalan rural tradition.
The Paquito Route 2025: more than 900 establishments throughout Spain
One of the most notable actions of this campaign is the Paquito Route 2025, which has more than 900 participating bars and restaurants nationwide and a particularly significant presence in the city of Barcelona.
The initiative seeks to revitalize the restaurant sector with a modern, urban offering adapted to the tastes of today’s consumers: El Paquito, a sandwich made with lamb and original recipes designed to appeal to young people.
The promotional materials and the gastronomic focus of the Ruta del Paquito reinforce the role of lamb as the foundation of a sustainable, responsible, and locally sourced food model.
Match Day, Paquito Day
The Women’s European Championship was held in Switzerland until July 27, and this year INTEROVIC launched a special edition Paquito, a unique burger to accompany our national team’s matches.
El Paquito: the sandwich with its own name
El Paquito was born in 2019 as an INTEROVIC initiative to bring lamb to new generations. Since then, it has reached more than 800 establishments throughout Spain and has become a symbol of tasty, sustainable meat with many culinary possibilities.
Every year, the Ruta del Paquito offers a tour of different cities where participating establishments present their own version of this sandwich, promoting consumption and culinary creativity.
Celebrating everyday life and searching for the Best Paquito in Spain
This year’s campaign is part of the new European strategy “Celebrate everyday life with European lamb,” which focuses on the environmental benefits of consuming lamb and goat meat, two of the most sustainable meats in the European Union.
As a major new feature this year, the Ruta del Paquito is incorporating the Best Paquito competition, which will hold regional finals in June 2025. The winners from each region will compete in the fall for the title of Best Paquito in Spain, rewarding the originality, flavor, and creativity of this sandwich, which is already a benchmark.
A commitment to the sector and the region
At ANAFRIC, we are pleased to be part of these high-impact initiatives for the sheep and goat sector, which needs greater visibility and recognition. The various initiatives are effective tools for bringing consumers closer to local, sustainable, and value-driven meat, at a key moment for transforming eating habits and strengthening rural economies.
