Bestiarium. Transhumance and its positive effects on the environment

The Sheep and Goat Meat Interprofessional, INTEROVIC, has launched a new cultural project that started last May, and which has been carried out together with the photographer José Barea. Thanks to this union, the BESTIARIUM photography exhibition has taken place. An exhibition that stands out for its dynamic and moving component, since it will visit different towns of the so-called Empty Spain for several months in its commitment to value the quality and flavor of the native meats that come from this extensive livestock model and highlight the value of transhumance and its positive effects on the environment, with the Transhumance Roadshow initiative.

Transhumance Roadshow is an open window to the biological resource represented by the autochthonous breeds that have emerged over the centuries. The adaptation of sheep, goats, horses, cows and dogs to the environment is the origin of specific breeds, which are the protagonists, thanks to the large-format photographs that make up the exhibition:

  • Sheep: 15 Breeds.
  • Goats: 15 Breeds.
  • Cattle: 7 Breeds.
  • Horses: 7 Breeds.
  • Dogs: 3 Breeds.

This traveling exhibition shows the Intangible Heritage of Humanity that represents transhumance. It is an opportunity for citizens to have access to the transhumant universe. In its different editions, Trashumancia Roadshow will be a bridge between herding, a trade with 3,000 years of history, and the citizens of the 21st century.

The next appointments to see the exhibition are:

Fall 2022: Cañada Real Vizana or De La Plata.

Benavente (Za.) – Baños De Montemayor (Các.)

Spring 2023: Cañada Real Cuenca (to be determined)

Vilches (Ja.) – Tomelloso (Ciu.Real) – Serranía de Cuenca – Guadalaviar (Te.)
