The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat de Catalunya has initiated a series of actions aimed at increasing the consumption and promotion of game meat. These measures seek, within the ‘Plan for the Valorisation of Game Meat in Catalonia’, to value this product, promote its presence in local gastronomy and contribute to the balance of ecosystems through sustainable management of game species. During 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food has allocated 931,000 euros to promote its marketing.
Among the highlighted initiatives is the creation of a specific quality brand for game meat, which will guarantee its origin and traceability, ensuring the consumer a trustworthy product. Likewise, the inclusion of dishes made with game meat in the menus of restaurants and hospitality establishments will be promoted, encouraging its presence in the Catalan gastronomic offer.
To facilitate public access to this product, its marketing will be promoted in local markets and specialized stores, encouraging local consumption and supporting local producers and hunters. In addition, awareness and dissemination campaigns will be carried out on the nutritional and culinary properties of game meat, highlighting its health benefits and its versatility in the kitchen.
