Congress gives green light to the Law on the Prevention of Food Loss and Waste

Congress has given the green light to the opinion of the draft Law on the Prevention of Food Loss and Waste, an initiative that will now go to the Senate to continue its parliamentary process.

This is explained by EFEAgro. The law seeks to prevent and reduce food waste by all agents in the chain; to do so, it establishes a hierarchy of solution priorities.

It includes the obligation of all agents to have an implementation plan for the prevention of waste losses, a measure from which micro-enterprises and small agricultural holdings are excluded.

In addition, the law will seek to promote the donation and redistribution of food, analyze its causes and move towards a quantitative and qualitative measurement, rigorous and periodically updated.
