More than 5,000 people have demonstrated in Madrid, called by the agricultural organizations ASAJA and COAG together with ASOPROVAC, for what they consider to be an agreement, Mercosur, that “favors the import of agricultural products below production costs.”
According to EFEAgro, the two organizing organizations consider that the support for these agreements by the European Commission, the Spanish Government and the MAPA “threatens” the objectives of adaptation and mitigation of climate change, generational change and the achievement of “fair” income for producers.
The call, according to the joint statement, aims to put on the table “the lack of effective responses to the many problems” that the sector has accumulated, including the agreement between the EU and Mercosur.
