From ANAFRIC, we will share the most outstanding interventions of the conference “Debunking myths about livestock farming: Science at the service of truth”, organized by Somos Ganadería. In this meeting, experts from the sector, scientists and communicators presented data based on evidence to refute false myths and provide rigorous information about livestock farming.
On this occasion, we share the words of Elisa Plumed, a journalist in the agri-food sector:
“During the Somos Ganadería conference I tried to explain that there is a lot of talk about misinformation in all areas, but that we should not fight against misinformation; we must work to introduce our messages into the immense flow of information that the media receives. It is essential to establish communication strategies with clear and simple messages, gradually winning over intermediaries and journalists, so that they can better tell the reality of the livestock sector. Some colleagues spoke of the importance of opening farms and providing more data. Without a doubt, data is essential, but we live in a very emotional society and it is key to link this data with stories. Therefore, it is essential to give voice to livestock farmers, tell their stories and show their reality to raise awareness in society.”
