The French law against food waste sets reduction targets for both collective (2025) and commercial (2030) catering and contemplates a national certificate to distinguish the most committed actors in the food chain.
The national anti-food waste label aims to highlight the actors in the food chain that contribute to the national objectives of reducing food waste by 50%:
From now to 2025 in the fields of food distribution and collective catering;
From now to 2030 in the fields of consumption, production, transformation and commercial catering.
Its objective is to improve and promote good practices to guarantee a reduced level of food waste. The creation of this certificate is an important step in the fight against food waste in France, since, according to the latest studies, France wastes around 10 million tons of food every year, which is equivalent to a cost of around 16,000 million euros.
