INTEROVIC condemns illegal trade and congratulates SEPRONA for its intervention

The Interprofessional Agri-Food Organization for Sheep and Goats (INTEROVIC) wishes to express its firm condemnation of the events recently dismantled by the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard, relating to a network dedicated to the illegal trade of meat products without any sanitary controls. This activity seriously endangers public health and directly attacks animal welfare and the reputation of the sheep and goat sector. A responsible, committed, and professional livestock sector, as it has been demonstrating over the years.

Certificado B+

“At INTEROVIC, we would like to congratulate and thank SEPRONA for the excellent work carried out, as well as for its commitment to defending the sector, food safety, and respecting the production standards required by the European production model, the strictest in the world,” stated Raúl Muñiz, president of INTEROVIC.

B+ Animal Welfare Certification

The interprofessional organization reiterates its commitment to food safety, animal welfare, and the traceability of all sheep and goat products. Along these lines, INTEROVIC promoted the creation of the B+ Animal Welfare Certification several years ago, the strictest in the sector, which guarantees rigorous compliance with standards throughout all stages of the production process, from farm to table. This certification not only guarantees product quality and safety, but also ethical compliance with animal and rural environment standards.

This type of fraudulent activity poses a serious threat to consumer confidence and to the daily efforts of livestock farmers, industries, and distributors to offer safe, sustainable, and high-quality products.

Along these lines, Raúl Muñiz added, “At INTEROVIC, we want to emphasize that the sheep and goat sector is synonymous with quality, transparency, and commitment to society. Currently, one hundred and fifty thousand families work directly or indirectly in this sector, so we cannot allow isolated incidents to tarnish their reputation, efforts, and hard work.”

This type of fraudulent activity, in addition to being illegal, poses a serious threat to consumer confidence and to the daily efforts of livestock farmers, industries, and distributors to offer safe, sustainable, and quality products.
