INTERPORC accompanies the Government of Spain on its official visit to China

INTERPORC will be part of the official delegation of the Government of Spain that will visit China next week. The mission aims to strengthen trade and economic relations between both countries. The Spanish delegation will be headed by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. Manuel García, President; Alberto Herranz, General Director; and Daniel de Miguel, International Director, will attend on behalf of INTERPORC.

 

Prior to this visit, INTERPORC was able to hold a meeting with the Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López Senovilla, in which she showed the Government’s support for the sector and the commitment to continue working together in the promotion and export of pork and pork products.

20.33% of the volume of exports
Spain is the main exporter of pork and processed pork products to China, with a total of 560,488 tonnes worth 1,223 million euros in 2023. Figures that represent 20.33% of the volume of Spanish pork exports and 13.7% of the value, as well as 20.95% of total pork imports from China. This year, between January and May, 261,100 tonnes have been exported for a value of 427.3 million euros.

 

The talks will address opportunities in key sectors such as the green transition, industrial cooperation and collaboration in third markets

 

Manuel García highlights that “our objective is to strengthen the alliances between both countries”. For several years, he adds, “the relationship between the pork sectors of China and Spain has evolved successfully towards a model of collaboration and mutual benefit”. Arguments that demonstrate that “Spanish pork can contribute and achieve a lot at a top-level meeting like this one, since we know the market and have excellent relations with companies and authorities.”

The official meeting will be held on September 10 at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai, where, after an opening session, several round tables will be held to address business relations between China and Spain. The talks will address opportunities in key sectors such as the green transition, industrial cooperation and collaboration in third markets.
