The Interprofessional Agri-Food Association of White-Coated Pork (INTERPORC) and the Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX) have signed a framework collaboration agreement with the aim of establishing synergies in the areas of research, teaching, and technological innovation applied to the agri-food sector.
This agreement will allow both institutions to work together to promote teaching, scientific, and training activities aligned with the current challenges of the pork sector and the needs of future professionals. For Alberto Herranz, General Director of INTERPORC, this represents “reinforcing our commitment to university-business collaboration, the development of young talent, and the promotion of the pork sector as a benchmark for innovation, sustainability, and food safety.”
In the words of Isabel Rodríguez, dean of the UAX Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, “this agreement reinforces our university’s commitment to education connected to the real challenges of the agri-food sector. Through this alliance with INTERPORC, we are promoting a strategic collaboration that will allow our students and faculty to actively contribute to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in a key sector for the economy and food security.”
Highlighting technical knowledge
The signing of the agreement consolidates a strategic relationship that highlights technical knowledge, the transfer of innovation, and specialized university training.
Among the main points of the agreement is the participation of UAX faculty and research staff in projects led or promoted by INTERPORC. Furthermore, it establishes the involvement of pork sector professionals in teaching activities, especially in postgraduate programs, supervision of master’s or doctoral theses, as well as the organization of seminars, conferences, and specialized courses.
Furthermore, the door is open to the creation of working groups made up of professors and students to collaborate on scientific or applied research projects. It also establishes the possibility for INTERPORC to award scholarships to UAX students for academically supervised internships at its facilities, promoting practical training integrated into the professional environment.
