INTERPORC informs the Government of the importance of pork trade with China for the Spanish economy

INTERPORC has held various conversations with Spanish government representatives in which it has informed them of the value for the national economy of the trade that Spanish pork companies maintain with China. One of the central issues addressed has been the anti-dumping investigation process initiated by the Chinese Administration on European pork last June, as well as other issues that are in the negotiation phase. The Spanish authorities have shown their support and commitment to defending the interests of the sector, underlining the importance of pork exports to that country.

These meetings have taken place during the official trip to China of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in which the representatives of INTERPORC, together with other important companies and organizations of the country, have been part of the business delegation that has accompanied the Government.

Manuel García, president of INTERPORC, highlights that “our presence on this trip shows significant support for the pork sector by the Government, even more so with the presence of the president.” And he recalled that “in 2023 we exported a total of 560,488 tons to China for a value of 1,223 million euros. That is wealth that we generate for Spain and that, without a doubt, is very important to recognize and defend.”

INTERPORC also offered today at the Spain-China Business Meeting held in Shanghai, a key event of this trip to strengthen trade relations between both countries. During the meeting, which included conferences, round tables and several networking sessions, INTERPORC highlighted the importance of the Spanish pork sector and offered a white-coated ham cutting and tasting event to all attendees to promote the quality and tradition of the Spanish pork product.
