This activity is part of the #SpainFoodNation campaign, a joint initiative of ICEX and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) to promote Spanish food, wine and beverages in the main international markets and offer opportunities to Spanish exporting companies .

During the event, INTERPORC offered a ham tasting, with the participation of a professional Chinese cutter who performed a live demonstration. In addition, the curing process and cutting techniques were explained, highlighting the food safety, quality and added value of the ham, which have become highly valued products in the Chinese market.

Daniel de Miguel, International Director of INTERPORC, has shown his satisfaction with the result of an event that has been “a privileged platform to present our products to important operators in the Chinese food sector, such as distributors, representatives of the HORECA channel and specialized media “.

A growing market

In 2023, Spain exported more than 2,400 tons of cured ham and shoulders to China, for a value of more than 37 million euros, which represented an increase of 4.5% compared to the previous year.

These figures consolidate Spain as the main global supplier of this product in the Chinese market, where Serrano ham is perceived as a product with great added value and a quality reference in the imported food segment.
