Juan Pascual in Revista Cárnica: “The transport or animal welfare law are Trojan horses to hinder livestock production”

The magazine Revista Cárnica has published a new installment of ‘Meat and health’ with an interview with Juan Pascual, one of the most recognized disseminators within the agri-food industry. Throughout the article, Juan Pascual unpacks some of the fakes that the meat industry has to deal with. “We see the press headlines that are published frequently, we see news such as that animal production is the origin of pandemics, that aquifers are being depleted, that livestock farming occupies a lot of surface area… With all these ideas, a story is generated which implies that whoever is carnivorous is guilty of justice”.

And when asked who is behind these ideas, the disseminator is clear: “There are many people who think that plant-based groups are behind it. I don’t think that’s the case. I believe that there is a social movement, that there are some very minority animal groups but tremendously active and tremendously convinced of what they do. And they are also heavily subsidized by different administrations… It is curious how American money is financing how to limit or hinder livestock activity in Europe. “It is a fact.” .

When asked the question, don’t you think that the sector should get its act together at a communicative level and use social networks, for example, to be able to reach people effectively? Juan Pascual responds: “People want to eat meat, they like to eat meat, they believe it is healthy, but there is a very significant pressure. We have the basis to make positive communication, but many resources are needed. The sector should consider it very carefully. serious about increasing investment, because we are losing the battle.”
