Meat exports grow by 7.4% in September

Exports of Spanish meat and meat products to third countries have experienced a growth of 7.4% in September 2024, reaching a total of 119,589 tonnes, according to CEXGAN data.

During the month of September, all subsectors, with the exception of sheep and goat, increased their exports compared to the same month of the previous year, although the annual cumulative figure shows a slight contraction of 0.2% in total exports of meat and meat products (1,136,647 tonnes compared to 1,138,960 in 2023), as reflected in Revista Cárnica.

Pork continues to lead exports, with 99,469 tonnes sent to third countries in September, a growth of 2% compared to the same month last year.

Beef was the segment with the highest relative growth in September, with a year-on-year increase of 175%, reaching 5,457 tonnes compared to 1,987 tonnes in the same period in 2023. In the year-to-date, 39,722 tonnes were exported, which represents an increase of 85% compared to the previous year, with the Philippines, Algeria and Canada as the main destinations.

Sheep and goat meat exports showed a year-on-year drop of 3.6% in September (836 tonnes), and a reduction of 27% in the year-to-date (7,594 tonnes).
