Nearly 3,000 dead animals removed from farms in towns devastated by the DANA

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Livestock and Fisheries has so far removed 2,950 dead animals from farms in areas affected by the DANA to avoid risks to public health.

Since last Wednesday, October 30, nearly 1,000 calls have been made to all livestock farms in the regions of L’Horta Sud, La Ribera Alta, La Ribera Baixa, Hoya de Buñol and Requena-Utiel through the company Tragsa, contracted by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the public company Vaersa, to find out about their needs.

Based on the information collected, the dead animals have been removed from 17 pig, sheep, horse and poultry farms. The notices for the collection of animal carcasses on public roads have also been attended to. This guarantees the supply of feed, fodder and water for those farms that are experiencing problems with access, thanks to the conditioning of the roads that have been affected.

The livestock farmer who requires these services can call 1 1 2 and the company Tragsa, on behalf of the Consell, will proceed to remove the animals at no cost to the farmer.

The Ministry of Agriculture is carrying out all the necessary measures to meet the main needs of farmers, ranchers and the agri-food industry.
