The La Gaspar Municipal School of Art and Design in Igualada, a member of the Leather Cluster Barcelona, has started a new academic year with important new features. The school is starting with a record number of 340 students and is strengthening its training offer with the start of the second year of the advanced training cycle in Leather Techniques, a unique course in Catalonia and in the Spanish state.
On Friday 11 October at 10.30 am the new La Gaspar workshop, “La Gaspar Leather”, will be inaugurated, in an event presided over by the Honourable Mr. Miquel Sàmper i Rodríguez, Minister of Business and Labour of the Generalitat de Catalunya, together with Mr. Marc Castells, Mayor of Igualada.
Expansion of spaces: new leather workshop on the ground floor
One of the great novelties of this course is the creation of a new leather workshop, located on the ground floor of the building (formerly Fitex). This space, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery like that used by luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Loewe, has been designed to become a reference centre for training in leather goods, prototyping and leather fashion accessories. The school offers its students a first-class educational experience, focused on the current needs of the sector.
