The Women’s European Championship is being held in Switzerland from July 2 to 27, and this year, support for the Spanish national team is also being shared between bread and bread. The Interprofessional Agri-Food Organization for Sheep and Goats (INTEROVIC) is launching a special edition of its iconic Paquito, the gourmet sandwich made with lamb, which is transformed into a unique burger to accompany our national team’s matches.
This time, the classic Paquito is reinvented in burger format thanks to a collaboration with Alba Redondo, the national team’s forward and campaign ambassador, and The Fitzgerald burger chain. The result is the Paquito Burger, a powerful and modern recipe with the unmistakable flavor of the best Spanish lamb.
The Paquito Burger is made with a lamb patty cooked at a low temperature and finished in a charcoal oven, accompanied by shredded pulled lamb, smoked scamorza cheese, barbecue sauce, and crispy onions. An irresistible option to enjoy on match days and demonstrate the versatility of lamb in urban culinary trends.
Available for €12.90, the Paquito Burger can be enjoyed throughout the Euro Cup at The Fitzgerald locations in Madrid, Zaragoza, Albacete, Valencia, and Murcia, both in the dining room and for delivery through its website and Uber Eats. With this initiative, INTEROVIC continues to bring lamb consumption to new audiences, highlighting its flavor, sustainability, and ability to adapt to the most innovative proposals.
Paquito: the sandwich with its own name
El Paquito was born in 2019 as an INTEROVIC initiative to bring lamb consumption to a younger audience, with creative and contemporary recipes. Since then, it has conquered more than 800 bars and restaurants throughout Spain and has established itself as a symbol of versatile and tasty meat. In addition, each year the Ruta del Paquito (Paquito Route) is held, a gastronomic tour of different cities in which more than 200 establishments present their version of this iconic sandwich, promoting responsible consumption and local cuisine.
