The version of El Paquito de cordero by the chef Roberto Villarroya from the Olla de Huesca restaurant has won over the jury of the first edition of the competition ‘Best Paquito in Spain’, organised by the Interprofessional Agroalimentaria del Ovino y el Caprino, Interovic, in Zaragoza, to award the best lamb, kid or suckling lamb sandwich in the country.
The most special and charismatic project of the Interprofessional Agroalimentaria del Ovino y el Caprino (INTEROVIC) has taken another step forward with the celebration of the first edition of the Best Paquito in Spain. A competition that confirms that the lamb sandwich is already an institution in our country and that has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Environment of the Government of Aragon, Ternasco de Aragón IGP and Caja Rural de Teruel.
The city of Zaragoza has been chosen as the place to organize this contest, which seeks to recognize excellence in the preparation of the lamb, goat or suckling pig sandwich from among all the versions of the establishments that have offered it nationwide participating in the different Rutas del Paquito held throughout the year, 11 participants from 11 different cities.
In addition, two finalists were also selected: the first, Pablo restaurant, located in León, with its version of Paquito presented by the chef Alfredo López. The second was the Malaga-based Yerbagüena de Campillos, whose chef is Javier Carmona.
