On November 27, 2025, the European Parliament in Strasbourg will host a conference organized by the Sustainable Livestock Intergroup entitled “What can be done to reduce the impacts of animal disease in Europe? (…and who should pay for it?)”.
The meeting will bring together representatives of the livestock sector, animal health experts, policymakers, and European organizations to analyze the most effective strategies for reducing the impact of animal diseases in Europe and discuss how the costs of prevention, control, and compensation should be shared.
Animal diseases pose one of the greatest threats to the sustainability and profitability of European livestock farming. Their prevention and management are essential to ensuring food safety, animal welfare, and the sector’s competitiveness.
