The Spanish meat sector continues to strengthen its strategic position within the agri-food industry. According to the latest available data, the sector reached a total turnover of €41.337 billion in 2024, representing a growth of 7.96% compared to the previous year.
This figure places the meat industry as one of the country’s economic drivers, already contributing 23.1% of the total food industry turnover, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MAPA).
Generator of employment and added value
In addition to its economic importance, the sector stands out for its capacity to generate employment. It currently provides a total of 122,942 jobs, representing 24.6% of total employment in the food and beverage industry. This fact confirms its key role in boosting the productive fabric, especially in rural areas.
Production and Leadership in Europe
In terms of production, Spain will reach nearly 1.5 million tons of processed meat products in 2024, consolidating its position as one of the European Union’s leading producers in this area.
At ANAFRIC, we highly value these figures, which reflect the sector’s effort, innovation, and commitment to quality, food safety, and sustainability. We will continue working to defend the interests of our members and contribute to the development of a competitive meat chain prepared for the challenges of the future.
