ANAFRIC, the meat industry association, is gathering information from its member companies with the aim of submitting a joint assessment to institutions regarding the impact on the meat sector following the widespread power outage in Spain.
According to José Friguls, president of ANAFRIC, “we are collecting data. We don’t know the exact economic value yet, but the truth is that the interruption of activity, logistical problems, and possible damage to equipment have been and will be a major headache for the sector.”
Although many companies had generators that kept their cold storage rooms operational, the economic and operational impact of the blackout remains difficult to quantify.
For all these reasons, ANAFRIC “has contacted our member companies to analyze how production was disrupted in slaughterhouses, cutting plants, processing plants, and other links in the value chain.”
In this context, ANAFRIC demands that the Government urgently implement support measures to address potential losses caused by the blackout, which directly impact the productive sector.
We will continue working to safeguard the interests of our member companies and ensure that the necessary solutions are implemented in response to this exceptional situation.
