The livestock-meat sector is hooked on the use of Artificial Intelligence thanks to the push of large companies that are betting on this tool for in-depth monitoring of any process: from controlling livestock weighing and recording carcasses in cutting rooms to environmental control of the farm.
The last edition of MEAT ATTRACTION has highlighted the strong commitment to AI, as is the example of Grup Vall Companys, which has recognised that the use of AI for weighing chickens on farms is something that “has changed the paradigm” for this company.
With this technique, producers have gone from offering an average weight of the herd (which they themselves calculated) to distributing the herd by weight ranges thanks to AI; information that is periodically requested by slaughterhouses.
Vall Companys has developed vision tools with AI technology to monitor the loading and unloading of animals; or the “FarmerSupport” project, which performs an intelligent analysis of the farm thanks to cameras with normal and thermal vision that run along the ceiling, up to six times a day, through the facilities to monitor the state of the animals, which results in their well-being and the prevention of incidents.
The “Nealia Farms” project, for its part, has served to automate environmental control on farms thanks to sensors that constantly monitor different parameters, which also results in improved productivity and animal well-being, as reported.
