The Ministry of Agriculture launches an awareness campaign to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF)
ANAFRIC is joining the new awareness campaign promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA) to strengthen prevention against African Swine Fever (ASF) in Spain.
The situation remains high-risk due to the presence of the disease in domestic pig farms and wild boar populations in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in northwestern continental Italy (Piedmont, Lombardy).
The Ministry emphasizes that a potential entry of the disease into Spain would have very serious consequences for the pig sector and therefore calls for a high level of awareness and collaboration.

🧩 Campaign Materials
MAPA has made various informational and visual materials available to the sector, including:
- Infographics on biosecurity in pig farms, transport, and slaughterhouses.
- Materials adapted to both intensive and extensive production.
- Specific leaflets for small farms and self-consumption farms.
- Recommendations for workers from at-risk countries (Eastern Europe).
📌 All information and resources are available on the official MAPA website:

🧠 Keys to prevention::
- Strengthen biosecurity measures on farms, in transport, and at slaughterhouses.
- Passive surveillance: Immediately report any suspicion or sign of the disease to the Official Veterinary Services.
- Avoid bringing meat products or live animals from affected areas.
At ANAFRIC, we are joining in the dissemination of this campaign to protect animal health, national production, and the stability of the Spanish pork sector.
