The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, will take the National Food Strategy (ENA) to the Council of Ministers this January and hopes to be able to deliver it “to the European Commission (EC) by the end of this month or beginning of February”.
This is what EFEAgro has explained, stating that the objective is to “build a robust, resilient and sustainable food system, capable of meeting the present and future needs of the population, while protecting and restoring the environment and ensuring balanced development”. and equitable throughout the national territory”.
To this end, as recalled, a public consultation was held and debate was held with all stakeholders in the agri-food chain, consumers, researchers and other areas linked to self-sufficiency and food security.
The ENA will be a reference for the new European Commission, the minister assured, and will serve as a basis for the formulation of public policies in the agri-food sector. It will establish comprehensive, coherent and transversal guidelines to address challenges related to food, food security, sustainability, food production and nutrition.
