El Paquito, the lamb sandwich with its own name, is once again filling bars and tables throughout Spain. The Paquito 2025 Route, promoted by the Interprofessional Agri-Food Association of Sheep and Goat Meat (INTEROVIC), is celebrating its largest edition to date: more than 200 bars and restaurants will offer their original versions of Paquito from June 6 to 30 in more than 15 cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Girona, Valencia, Pamplona, Albacete, Cuenca, Toledo, Ciudad Real, Cáceres, Badajoz, Mérida, Teruel, Zaragoza, and Huesca, among others.

Since its launch in 2019, when 40 Madrid establishments joined the initiative, El Paquito’s growth and popularity have been spectacular. In these six years, the Ruta del Paquito has reached more than 800 different establishments in 15 provinces, establishing itself as a key campaign to boost the consumption of Spanish suckling lamb, lamb, and goat meat, especially among young people.

“Celebrate everyday life with lamb” and regional finals for the Best Paquito

This year, as part of its new European campaign “Celebrate everyday life with European lamb,” INTEROVIC highlights the environmental benefits of consuming lamb and goat meat, two of the most sustainable meats in the European Union.

As a new feature for this 2025 edition, the Ruta del Paquito is adding an exciting new feature: the regional finals for the Best Paquito competition, which will be held during the month of June. The winners from each region will compete in the fall for the title of Best Paquito in Spain, an award that will recognize the creativity, flavor, and originality of this offering for the second consecutive year.
