When the sector unites, ideas are born: This was the ANAFRIC Annual Sheep and Goat Meeting in Valencia

The Spanish sheep and goat sector has once again demonstrated its commitment to the future. On June 17, the city of Valencia hosted the ANAFRIC Annual Sheep and Goat Group Meeting, a conference that brought together professionals from the livestock, industrial, institutional, and distribution sectors, consolidating its position as an essential event in the sector’s calendar.

The event brought together leading companies in the sheep and goat sector from all over Spain, as well as representatives from large-scale retailers such as Consum and Mercadona, to analyze the challenges and opportunities facing the sector in a context marked by changing consumption, sustainability, and global competitiveness.

A strategic program for an evolving sector
The conference was structured around a technical and strategic program designed to offer practical tools and high-value-added insights. Among the topics discussed were:

  • Energy management in times of uncertainty, presented by Axpo, the event’s sponsor, which provided key insights for optimizing energy consumption in the current volatile environment.
INTEROVIC’s new campaign, developed by the creative agency LOBO, aims to boost everyday consumption of lamb and goat meat, with the popular “Paquito” as one of the main protagonists.
  • The profile of today’s consumer, presented by AECOC, which offered revealing data on purchasing trends, perceptions about meat, and opportunities for communicating with the end consumer.
  • Export opportunities for Spanish sheep and goats, presented by the Director of the Agri-Food Industry at ICEX, who highlighted the potential of international markets to diversify the output of differentiated quality products.

The meeting culminated with a roundtable discussion featuring experts in production, distribution, and communication, with the aim of building a new narrative about meat consumption: more accessible, sustainable, transparent, and emotional.

Institutional Statement
José Friguls, president of ANAFRIC, emphasized in his final remarks:
“At ANAFRIC, we believe in the power of collaboration. This meeting has demonstrated that when producers, distributors, and experts sit down to dialogue, proposals emerge that strengthen the sector. We have shared concerns, but above all, we have shared solutions. We are convinced that Spanish sheep and goat farming has much to contribute, both nationally and internationally, and we will continue working together to consolidate its value.”

A meeting with continuity and regional commitment
The day concluded with a networking dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, where attendees were able to strengthen ties and share impressions with other industry professionals. During the closing ceremony, it was announced that the next edition of the ANAFRIC Sheep-Goat Group Annual Meeting will take place in Castilla-La Mancha, a key region for sheep and goat production and processing in Spain.

ANAFRIC would like to express its deep gratitude to all the speakers, companies, collaborating entities, and attendees who made this event possible. We continue working, sharing, and growing together.
