Alejandro Gutiérrez joins PROVACUNO as Deputy Director as of today, marking the beginning of the leadership transition process at the Interprofessional Organization for Beef, which will culminate in the future retirement of Javier López, Director of the interprofessional organization.

A graduate in Veterinary Medicine, Alejandro has more than 12 years of professional experience in the business association environment and public affairs within the agri-food sector, where he began his career in the technical department of the Spanish Federation of Associations of Select Livestock (FEAGAS).
In his most recent position, as Coordinator of Technical Services at Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias, he carried out representation duties at national and international level, participating in dialogue forums with senior representatives of the Spanish Government, the European Commission, as well as other sector representatives and civil society. He has also performed management, monitoring and advisory tasks related to agricultural strategies, policies and regulations, together with the coordination and monitoring of the functioning of agri-food markets, and the performance and opportunities of agricultural cooperatives in the global market.
Alejandro’s appointment is the result of a selection process carried out by an external human resources consultancy, to which more than 150 résumés were submitted. Of these, 41 candidates were selected and interviewed, 17 of them in depth, leaving 4 finalists proposed by the Selection Committee created for this purpose, from among whom the Board of Directors of PROVACUNO made the final choice.
Javier López, Director of the Interprofessional Organization for Beef, stated that he is very satisfied with this appointment, “due to the incorporation into PROVACUNO of a young person, but with extensive experience in the sector, who also has a conciliatory and prudent attitude and a negotiating approach that is essential for an activity such as this. I am sure he will bring new ideas and will fit perfectly into the team.”
For his part, Alejandro Gutiérrez, who thanked PROVACUNO for the trust placed in him, stated that he takes on this challenge as “an opportunity to continue contributing, through active listening, dialogue and joint work, to the growth and strengthening of the Spanish beef sector”.
