The Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government), through the Department of Climate Action, Food, and Rural Agenda, has launched a €3 million grant to promote the development of innovative technologies for livestock manure treatment.
These multi-year grants aim to promote solutions that contribute to more sustainable and efficient management of livestock waste, aligned with climate change mitigation and adaptation objectives.
The initiative is financed through the Catalan Government’s Climate Fund, which aims to channel investments into projects with a positive impact on the environment and the sustainability of the agri-food sector.
A Strategy for the Future: 2024-2030 Action Plan
This line of aid is part of the 2024-2030 Action Plan approved in March, which establishes a roadmap to improve the recovery of organic waste, especially that derived from anaerobic digestion.
The strategy includes 36 measures and 55 specific actions to overcome the main challenges facing the sector in this area: from legal and economic barriers to technological and social difficulties, including the agronomic recovery of digestate.
