First In-Person Meeting of the National Union of Swine Classrooms connects young people with the future of the pig sector

The National Union of Swine Classrooms (UNASP) will hold its First In-Person Meeting on 10 September at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zaragoza, an initiative aimed particularly at students of Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, Master’s programmes and other qualifications related to the agri-food sector who are interested in learning first-hand about the opportunities offered by the pig sector.

I Jornada Presencial de la Unión Nacional de Aulas Porcinas

The meeting has a clear objective: to bring universities and companies closer together, encourage networking between young people and professionals and contribute to generational renewal, one of the major challenges in ensuring the future of the sector.

The event will bring together university representatives, sector organisations, companies and young professionals. Following the institutional opening, the programme will address the role of University Swine Classrooms, the future challenges facing younger generations and the different career opportunities available to students once they complete their studies.

The programme also includes issues that are becoming increasingly important for younger generations, such as mental health, communication and dialogue, as well as a series of technical workshops on current issues led by companies from the sector.

The international dimension will be represented through a connection with the Circle for Studies and Research on Swine Medicine (CEIMPORC) in Peru, while the event will conclude with a meeting with companies designed to facilitate direct contact between students and professionals.

ANAFRIC particularly values initiatives of this kind, which help show young people the wide range of professional profiles required throughout the pork value chain and create spaces where education, knowledge and business can come together.

Generational renewal is one of the strategic challenges facing the entire meat value chain. Bringing the sector closer to those currently in education, explaining its career opportunities and facilitating contact with companies are essential to attracting and retaining talent and ensuring a new generation of professionals ready to meet the challenges facing the pig sector.
