The Xunta de Galicia has presented the main lines of a new strategy to boost the meat sector in the community. It is a roadmap with six axes to develop until the year 2030, including 64 measures and 174 actions. The objective is to have an organized and professionalized sector to promote a competitive industry and leader in quality.
This strategy seeks to promote a society aware of the importance of Galician meat production and its nutritional value, as well as move towards a more sustainable sector that cares for the environment and guarantees animal welfare.
As highlighted by the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, the sector in the Galician community contributes more than 34% of the value of final agricultural production, totals more than 43,000 farms and 192 processing industries and employs around 5,800 workers.
