INTERPORC Brings the World Cup to the Villages That Raised Spain’s Football Stars

INTERPORC) has launched “Rural Pride”, an initiative that will bring the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to the municipalities that form part of the personal history of some of Spain’s most iconic football players.

The initiative will begin on 15 June in Los Palacios y Villafranca (Seville), a town closely linked to footballers such as Gavi, Fabián Ruiz and Jesús Navas. A giant screen will be installed in Parque de las Marismas so that residents and fans can watch the match between Spain and Cape Verde in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.

In addition to the live broadcast of the match, INTERPORC will set up a food truck where ham sandwiches will be distributed to attendees, bringing together sport, gastronomy and tradition in a single celebration.

Recognising the role of villages in Spanish sport

Through this initiative, INTERPORC aims to highlight the contribution of rural municipalities to Spain’s sporting, social and cultural development. Unlike the usual activities linked to major sporting events in large cities, “Rural Pride” places the spotlight on the villages where many players took their first steps before reaching the elite level of international football.

According to Alberto Herranz, Director of INTERPORC, the objective is to share with local residents the pride of seeing athletes who grew up in their streets now representing Spain in the world’s most important football competition.

Three stops to experience the World Cup from the heart of rural Spain

After its visit to Seville, the initiative will continue its journey through two other municipalities closely connected to historic figures of the Spanish National Team.

The second event will take place on 21 June in Fuentealbilla (Albacete), the hometown of Andrés Iniesta, coinciding with the match between Spain and Saudi Arabia.

Later, on 27 June, “Rural Pride” will arrive in Navalacruz (Ávila), the village where Iker Casillas grew up, to broadcast the match between Uruguay and Spain.

Sport, gastronomy and pride in the territory

With this initiative, INTERPORC reinforces its commitment to rural communities and to promoting Spanish pork products, bringing the World Cup closer to fans while highlighting the connection between territory, tradition and a sense of belonging.

The initiative aims to turn every Spanish National Team match into a shared celebration for residents, families and supporters, reaffirming the role of villages as an essential part of the history of Spanish sport.
