Leather Cluster Barcelona has reinforced its role as a key reference for Catalonia’s leather sector through the recent participation of its Managing Director, Mònica Santamans, in the television programme L’Apunt de Canal Taronja. During the interview, Santamans outlined the cluster’s mission, vision and strategic objectives, underlining its commitment to member companies and to the overall development of the sector.

She highlighted the cluster’s role as a driver of collaboration, competitiveness and innovation, with a strong focus on results and collective impact. The promotion of collaborative and cross-cutting projects has positioned Leather Cluster Barcelona as a key platform for innovation, internationalisation and sustainability within the Catalan leather industry.
Leather Cluster Barcelona currently brings together nearly 80 companies and stakeholders across the entire leather value chain in Catalonia. Based at the Adobería Bella site in Igualada, the cluster integrates activities ranging from livestock farming and the agri-food industry to tanneries, research and academia, chemistry, sustainability, design, craftsmanship, leather manufacturing and fashion.
Santamans also addressed the cluster’s strategic priorities and presented the main guidelines of the 2025–2030 Master Plan, aimed at tackling key challenges such as circular economy, sustainability, innovation, communication and sector image.
During the interview, she emphasised leather and its industry as a clear example of circular economy, noting that leather is a by-product of meat consumption that is recovered and upgraded, preventing waste and transforming it into durable, functional and high-value products.
This media appearance forms part of Leather Cluster Barcelona’s proactive communication strategy to raise awareness and improve public understanding of the leather industry and its contribution to society.
