The General Assembly of COTANCE held last Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in Brussels has unanimously re-elected Manuel Ríos Navarro to continue presiding over COTANCE for the next two years. He will be assisted in the presidency of COTANCE by vice-presidents Fabrizio Nuti (Italy), Jean Christophe Muller (France) and Rino Mastrotto (Italy). Philippe Joucla (France), outgoing vice-president, received a warm thank you for his tenure as president of COTANCE.
Delegates from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Hungary who attended the Assembly also adopted the COTANCE 2024 Manifesto, which summarizes the main requests to the EU ahead of the new legislature with the upcoming European elections and the appointment of a new Commission.
The president of COTANCE, Manuel Ríos, addressed those attending the Assembly with the following words: “I am very proud of the trust received from my colleagues for leading our industry in these complicated times, and happy for the support of my colleagues in the COTANCE presidency. We will not stop striving to ensure that our EU authorities know the needs of our companies. The Manifesto that we have approved today summarizes in 3 points and 10 measures what our industry needs from Europe. political leaders in the EU and at home understand what we need. We cannot afford more obstacles. What we need is support and not attacks!”

Manuel Ríos is CEO of INPELSA, one of the main Spanish sheep leather tanneries located in Canals (Valencia). He has held the position in the European leather industry body since 2021. For Anna García, the director of Acexpiel/ Spanish Tanners: “The continuity of Manuel Rios as president of COTANCE represents recognition of the work carried out by the Spanish industry in the international arena.”
