The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) is launching a new edition of the educational project “Understanding Agriculture and Livestock Farming,” framed within the agri-food training strategy “Sow, Grow and Harvest Your Future” to promote professionalism in the sector.
The Director General of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-food Training, Isabel Bombal, explained today the importance of children understanding that “agriculture and livestock farming are the foundation of our food chain” and that science, technology, and innovation underpin these activities.
The objective of this initiative is to introduce agriculture and livestock farming to young people, foster respect for the rural environment, and inspire interest in the agri-food sector. According to Bombal, the ministry aims for children to discover that the primary sector also offers an “attractive and interesting opportunity for their future.”
The program, which will take place between October and April at the National Irrigation Technology Center in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid), consists of 14 sessions in which more than 700 schoolchildren from the Community of Madrid will participate.
