Menorca allocates €1.7 million for two municipal slaughterhouses

The Menorca Island Council has approved the agreements to allocate 1.7 million euros to the two municipal slaughterhouses on the island in Maó and Ciutadella. The agreements contemplate transferring to the town councils of these two towns up to 850,000 euros respectively to make improvements in the slaughterhouses and meet the cost of sandachs (animal by-products not intended for human consumption).

According to the newspaper Menorcaaldia.com, the investment actions must be carried out during a period of one year, while the costs of treatment and elimination of sandachs must correspond to expenses carried out during the year 2023.
