During the presentation, the Minister congratulated the Association for Vocational Training (Gremi) for being a driving force and joining the SOC (Catalan Employment Service) courses. He announced that, “inspired by the success of initiatives such as the Dual FPO (Flexible Vocational Training Program), the Department of Business and Employment, through the Directorate General of Commerce, the SOC, and the Consortium, are taking action to improve employment and training in the field of commerce.” The program has a dual objective: “to ensure generational renewal and increase the competitiveness of the commercial sector,” the Minister emphasized.

The training began last February and will continue until February 2026. 632 hours of training will be provided at Mercabarna facilities and 1,162 hours will be provided at participating companies.

The project with Fundación Intermedia includes 10 people hired by 7 companies in the municipalities of Sant Boi, Gavà, Castellar del Vallés, Pineda de Mar, Sabadell, Hospitalet, and Sant Cugat. The Barcelona Activa project, meanwhile, has 15 students hired by 13 companies in Barcelona city.

The president of the Association, Antoni Gálvez, emphasized during his speech:

“If the students take advantage of this experience to understand that this trade can guarantee them a job future—or even start their own business—we can speak of 100% success. In our sector, continued employment is guaranteed.”

This commitment to training and talent integration qualifies the butcher and delicatessen sector as a real and stable option for the future, with a growing demand for trained professionals.

The Gremi has been one of the organizations that has most strongly supported Dual Vocational Training (FOT) and participated in the latest round of applications for the program funded by the SOC (Social Security and Employment Service). This program is aimed at unemployed individuals who wish to enter the labor market and offers beneficiaries the opportunity to secure a one-year training and apprenticeship contract.

The Gremi would like to express its gratitude for the presence of the Regional Minister of Business and Employment, Miquel Samper, and for the support of all the individuals and institutions that made this event possible, especially the Department of Commerce.

Everyone’s collaboration is key to continuing to promote training and the integration of professionals in our profession.

Miquel Sàmper, Regional Minister of Business and Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya
