The Cabildo de La Gomera awards the construction of a biogas plant in the island slaughterhouse

The Cabildo de La Gomera has awarded the construction of a biogas plant for self-consumption in the island slaughterhouse with an investment of 284 thousand euros. This is an action whose work will begin next May for its entry into operation this summer, in such a way that the power generation capacity is increased, from the bio-waste generated by the activity that is carried out there.

All animal remains produced by the slaughterhouse unfit for consumption or for other purposes will be converted into biogas and fertilizer products. The slaughterhouse generates more than 62 tons of waste every year that has to be transferred to Tenerife. With the biogas plant, the waste will be used for own consumption and for surrounding agriculture.
