The compensation will apply to all culling carried out since 3 October 2025, the date when the first outbreak was identified. The amounts have been set in line with criteria agreed with the livestock sector, taking into account technical factors such as the animal’s production purpose (meat or dairy), age and reproductive status.

The measure will benefit farms affected by the two outbreaks detected to date. In addition, the regional authorities have announced the gradual lifting of sanitary restrictions, scheduled for 26 December in the Gironès area and 8 January in the Alt Empordà region. However, some farms will remain under restrictions due to their proximity to areas affected by cases detected in France.
